ISO 9001

The ISO 9001:2008 standard, drawn up by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO), determines the requirements for a Quality Management System (QMS), which can be used for internal application by organisations, regardless of whether a public organisation or private company provides the product or service, whatever its size, for its certification or for contractual purposes.

ISO, by its acronym in English, the International Standardisation Organisation, is an independent, non-governmental agency which now comprises 162 members from different countries around the world. This agency began after the Second World War (February 1947), when delegates from 25 countries met in England to coordinate and unify global standards.

Depending on the country, the same “ISO 9001” standard may be called differently by adding the name of the agency that represents it within the country: UNE-EN-ISO 9001:2008 (Spain), IRAM-ISO 9001:2008, etc., together with the year when the standard was last updated.

ISO 9001: contains the requirements of the management model.

NIMF-15 (heat treatment)

ISPM 15: International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM) 15, created by the FAO, regulates wood packaging used in international trade and describes phytosanitary measures to reduce the risk of introducing and spreading forest pests and diseases in other countries.

The treatment of this standard is necessary when exporting to the most industrial countries, including those in the EU, the United States, Canada, Mexico, China, Korea, Australia and New Zealand, among others. Countries that have signed ISPM-15 have the right to refuse entry into their borders of goods on pallets, in boxes and wood packaging that have not been treated, marked and certified in accordance with their regulations.

The European Union incorporated the phytosanitary treatments in ISPM 15 into EU legislation by Directive amending 2000/29/EC, which entered into force on March 1, 2005. In Spanish territory, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA), through the General Directorate for Plant Health, is the agency that manages the registration of companies authorised to implement ISPM 15.
